Make a difference in the lives of Ely, MN youth by supporting positive youth development activities!

Ely Community Resource has been providing positive youth development activities available to ALL youth--from the time they enter school until they graduate--for 46 years!  No fees are charged. Youth benefit from in-school and after-school tutoring and literacy programs, age-appropriate social skills development activities as well as recreation and mentoring activities, leadership development opportunities, and college and career education and awareness efforts. Our goals are to provide meaningful caring-adult mentorship and to create a peer community that supports positive choices.  Our model of working in-school and after-school is a unique advantage in terms of building meaningful relationships.

Continuing to support ALL Ely kids....

HELP US PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ELY YOUTH!

2024-25 Priorities for Funding:  Maintaining Increased Engagement and Support of Youth AND Their Families.   State grant funds were reduced this year, but the NEED for youth and family support DID NOT REDUCE! Our team of 5 full-time staff have developed crucial relationships with youth who struggle with anxiety, self-esteem and social skills, academics, and/or decision making and refusal skills.  Our programs strive to bring all Ely youth together in positive, engaging activities that support learning from each other's successful behaviors.  Increasingly, we find ourselves working with the child's caregivers who need help to provide food, warm clothing, housing, childcare, or access to dental care, a physician, or mental health provider.  We've cobbled together some smaller grants and are working to find sustaining funding.  In addition to payroll support, we are hoping to finish some family friendly projects:  Making our fleet of canoes and kayaks easily available for loan on Shagawa Lake.  Purchasing a bike maintenance station at the Ely Rec Center that includes a tire pump.

This year's Give to the Max Day funds will be earmarked for supporting caring staff who maintain ongoing nurturing relationships with our kids plus provide new and important ways for their families to be involved.   Monthly salaries for programs at school and at the Ely Rec Center run approximately $20,000.

Thank you for caring about our kids!  For more information, check out our website....... www.elycommunityresource.org
