Make a difference in the lives of Ely, MN youth by supporting positive youth development activities!

Ely Community Resource has been providing positive youth development activities available to ALL youth--from the time they enter school until they graduate--for 45 years!  No fees are charged. Youth benefit from in-school and after-school tutoring and literacy programs, age-appropriate social skills development activities as well as recreation and mentoring activities, leadership development opportunities, and college and career education and awareness efforts. Our goals are to provide meaningful caring-adult mentorship and to create a peer community that supports positive choices.

Continuing to support ALL Ely kids....

HELP US PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ELY YOUTH!

2023-24 Priorities for Funding:  Equipment for Enrichment Activities - New mentoring efforts have resulted in a number of active groups.  One group is learning about video production guided by community experts with access to equipment.  Another is learning outdoor skills and even venturing on overnight trips!  We're partnering with Voyageur Outward Bound, Northern Tier High Adventure Base, and Camp Widjiwagan for a number of 4-5 day trips in the BWCAW and on the Superior Hiking Trail.  That van you all helped us acquire during the Spring Forward Campaign has supported these exciting new developments.  We are collecting canoes and kayaks that are donated or reasonably priced to place at Semer's Park for families to borrow, and the City has given permission to build a boat rack for them.  Local kids are helping us design a gravel BMX pump track adjacent to the concrete wheelpark at the Ely Rec Center.  We want to purchase:

  1. A higher quality video camera (used is okay)  $1,000-$2,000
  2. Materials for a rack at Semer's Park that will accommodate and secure several canoes and kayaks.  $1,500-$2,000
  3. Recognition for Outdoor Club members who complete the Leadership Skills Checklist (engraved flint & steel).   20 X $30 = $600
  4. Gravel and professional grading/tamping for the pumptrack at the Rec Center.  $1,000
  5. New games for our Wolf Pack Afterschool Program at Washington Elementary - for 40 kids who are learning to be good friends and good sports from 2:50-5:30 Monday through Friday.  $3,000

This year's Give to the Max Day funds will be earmarked for supporting these activities that will offer exciting ways to learn, new ways for students to follow their own interests, and ways to discover connections with their community that will support growing up strong.

Thank you for caring for our kids!
