Our Goal
To provide children, families, teachers and community members access to free high quality literature and to enhance literacy skills.

What we do
Provide literacy opportunities and access to free high quality literature to own, read, and treasure.

Take VIRTUAL TOUR of our book source space and see our work in action!

How we do it
The community bike bookmobile and book source location allow for books to be self-selected and ultimately owned by community members along with future access to free story times, book clubs, writing clubs, and family literacy opportunities.

The Story Orchard strives to put books in the hands of children, families, teachers and community members to increase exposure to literature at no cost to the recipient. Children who are in environments where reading is valued become stronger readers. Therefore, all community members need access to high quality literature.

Currently families and community members are able to choose books from the book bikemobile at community events and from our physical location on 39th and Thomas Ave. N in Minneapolis.

Teachers need extensive classroom libraries to meet the needs of each unique student population. The International Reading Association recommends that classroom libraries have between 300-600 books.  To help ensure that each child has daily access to books that interest them and are engaging, teachers may come and choose books from the collection when needed.

The Story Orchard is striving to building strong literate communities one book at a time.
