Star of the North Maternity Home

In the search to END homelessness of infants and their mothers, we started Star of the North Maternity Home. We have two locations -- on in the Twin Ports and one on the Iron Range. 

Star of the North Maternity Home offers residential housingthat provides a family-like setting in a loving and supportive environment. Our homes are for homeless women 21 years of age or older in Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin. In Minnesota alone, there can be up to 7,940 individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the year. Our focus is not only providing housing, but also a four-phase program that includes education about healthy relationships, nutrition, adoption, positive parenting, including a strong Christian spiritual faith life, good self-image and empowerment programs.

When we started this organization, we found there was a great need in our region. These women are in need of housing due to domestic violence, overcoming drug and alcohol addiction, poverty, or lack of a positive family support network. We help coordinate the use of existing services in our community that allow mothers to carry their babies safely to term, care for their babies after birth, and take steps toward self-sufficiency and independent living.
