Student Theatrical Arts Association of Rogers supports the development and sustained growth of the Rogers High School Theater Department.

Student Theatrical Arts Association of Rogers (STAAR) was founded by several RHS parents in 2011 following the conclusion of “Godspell”, the first full theatrical production in the history of the school.  RHS was opened in 2003; however, the facility was built without a dedicated performing arts center.  Due to facility limitations, it was long thought that the establishment of a theater department within the school was not possible.

In the spring of 2011 several dedicated individuals joined together to prove that producing a full-scale musical production was indeed possible.  The team rose all funding for the production from private and corporate supporters and staged an overwhelmingly successful production in a limited space at the adjacent Rogers Middle School facility.

Since its inception, the STAAR team has worked with the administration and school board to advocate and secure dedicated funding for a theatre program at RHS.  This, combined with the collective generosity of several individuals, businesses and organizations in the area helped set a foundation for this program.  Since then, the program has grown exponentially.  We have moved into the beautiful RHS Performing Arts Center and the theater program is continuing to grow.  More students are entering and participating in the theater program - whether the Fall Musical, One-Act Play or Spring Play.  This year's Fall production has over 100 students in the company (cast, tech crew and pit orchestra).

While a lot of progress in growing the theater program has been made, there are many ongoing financial needs that have to be addressed to ensure the continued success of this program.  We pay a costumer for each show, pay an accompanist, supplement the costume budget, host company parties, feed the children during show week, supplement the marketing budget for the shows, pay for a storage facility for costumes and props, provide 2 $500 scholarships for graduating seniors, and any other needs the creative team brings to the STAAR board.

Thank you, in advance, for your consideration.  With your help we can indeed “Pack the PAC” and provide theater opportunities to Rogers High School and the greater ISD 728 community.
