✨ 👨🎨 🖼 👍 ✨
Since 2001, SooVAC has worked with over 3600 artists. With the majority of them from Minnesota, we work to support artists’ careers by offering exhibition and curatorial opportunities, as well as teaching and work experience. |
Focusing on emerging and under-represented artists, our curatorial vision for our exhibitions are artist-led and open ended, allowing us to encounter a variety of artists working across mediums from many different backgrounds. |
L to R: Barber (artist), Sophia Abrams (arts writer), Herman Milligan, Jr., Ph.D (SooVAC Advisory Board member) enjoying the opening of "Change is God -Take Root Among The Stars: Black Abstraction in the Midwest" curated by Gregory J. Rose |
We work to bridge the gap between artist and viewer with free exhibitions and programming, encouraging everyone to experiment and to come together and take risks. |
From Dietrich Sieling's hyper local and intimate, "You Are Walking Down Bryant Avenue" to curator Gregory J. Rose's exploration of Black artists working in abstraction across the Midwest in "Change is God-Take Root Among the Stars", we have been honored to showcase the work of 122 artists in 2022. |
As a non-profit organization, individuals are one of our largest sources of income. Community investment makes all of our programming possible.
|
These past few years have been hard and our community of artists face many challenges. We are grateful for supporters like you that have kept us paying artists for their work and sharing it with you all along. SooVAC makes sure that every artist we work with receives a stipend for their time and work. Our small and passionate staff of four does everything from assisting artists with grants to installing anything and everything our artists want to exhibit. |

This upcoming year we would like to improve our accessibility and sustainability, as we think of the future and value of art and community |
We are currently engaged in upgrading our website and improving our online programming to expand access and audience reach. As well as continuing to upgrade our gallery to smarter technology to offer our artists space to explore and take risks in new media, often for the first time. Your donation makes these upgrades possible and provides us flexibility to continue to adapt and improve over the next year. |
We are thankful to you for considering us on this annual Give To The Max Day, when we know there is so much in the world that is begging for your attention.
|
What would the world be without art? 🤔💖👨🎨🤪 |
Your donation to SooVAC this Give to the Max season will go further by unlocking our Invest in art and help us reach our goal of $7,500 by donating and/or sharing our work!! Every gift is essential, choose your own amount or become a member and get some cool stuff! |
