Support Local Programs

We invite you to partner with Scandia Heritage Alliance (SHA) in creating programs that preserve and celebrate Scandia's history, arts, culture, and rural character. Donating to SHA supports historic research, our speaker series, development of the arts and heritage center, and development of the Scandia Heritage Trail.

Specifically, your donation this year will help us:

  • Develop a program to interview and record elderly residents sharing stories about Scandia history
  • Purchase a microphone and speaker system for use with our speaker series
  • Cover the cost to bring raptors from the Wildlife Science Center to Gammelgarden Museum for Scandia Vinterfest -- and to subscribe to the Goosechase app for the 2nd Annual Goosechase Trivia Treasure Hunt at Vinterfest
  • Pay for museum software to document historic photos, maps, and documents from Scandia and share them with the public
  • Pay a consultant to write grant applications to help fund building the WATER TOWER BARN SCANDIA arts and heritage center
  • Help pay travel costs and honorariums to bring relevant speakers to Scandia for our Scandia History Series
  • Pay a consultant to design the bandshell for the Water Tower Barn amphitheater
  • Develop outdoor museum signage for Scandia's historic sites included in the new Scandia Heritage Trail map

The vast majority of SHA's work is accomplished by a wide network of volunteers - meaning that your contribution supports our programs rather than salaries. We have no paid employees. Our board of directors and committee members develop programs. plan events, write grant applications, and do the planning work for the arts and heritage center. We value your contributions and ensure they go towards important work for our community!

Our Mission
To preserve and celebrate Scandia’s rich history, culture, arts, and rural character.

Our Vision
Scandia is blessed with a rich history and sense of place, complemented by stunning natural and rural landscapes. We envision Scandia as a vibrant hub of activity focused on preserving, restoring, and celebrating our unique history, art and artists, and community assets.

The centerpiece of our work is a community gathering place featuring the restored Water Tower Barn and a new Scandia arts and heritage center. This development will complement the nearby Gammelgården Museum and honor our region’s cultures, past and present.

Scandia Heritage Alliance aims to educate and delight audiences through historical and cultural programming, such as our History Series, Heritage Trail, and arts programming in cooperation with regional arts and cultural organizations.

By partnering with Scandia’s building owners and public entities, we are committed to preserving and rehabilitating historic structures.

Ultimately, our work will enrich the lives of residents, as well as visitors from across the region, leading to properly scaled tourism, economic development, and a vibrant community that is uniquely interesting to live in and visit.
