GammelgÅ’rden Museum was established 1972 to Preserve, Present and Promote Swedish Immigrant Heritage.

"Gammelgården" means Old Farm in Swedish. Here visitors can step back in history and experience the lives of early Swedish immigrants in the only open air museum devoted to Swedish immigration in the United States.
Today, in buildings that have been carefully preserved and restored, visitors can get a glimpse of the daily lives of these immigrants and participate in events and classes to learn more about the culture and times of the immigrants.
Visit the many buildings on Gammelgården Museum's 11 acres site. Your tour guide will give a lots of information about the Välkommen Hus, Präst Hus, Gammel Kyrkan, Ladugård, Immigrant Hus and Swedish Stuga.

Children love experiencing immigration at our summer day camp:  Comin' to Amerika or by taking the Tor the Tomte tour through the buildings.  They also enjoy participating in our festivals which always include activities for children.  Many children visit with their schools and homeschool groups as part of their history education.

Adults love Gammelgården Museum's tours, coffee parties, rotating exhibits, giftshop, classes and festivals.  Swedish visitors particularly enjoy learning about the ancestors who left Sweden!

Gammelgården Museum is nestled in the beautiful St Croix valley.  This museum is run primarily by volunteers who love telling the immigrant story .... and love hearing about YOUR story.  Come share stories at this wonderful gem of a museum.
