The 510 Art Lab is a unique art experience, located in Central Minnesota.  The 510 Art Lab is a makerspace that strives to nurture and promote all aspects of art in the community through memberships, hands-on classes, exhibits and events in a welcoming, inclusive environment.  Our members have 24-hour access to our space which includes equipment and supplies in the areas of pottery, stained and fused glass, weaving, fabrics, painting, mosaics and more.

Sauk Centre and the central Minnesota area has always been a region teeming with creative energy and artistic talent. However, despite the abundance of artistic potential, we found ourselves lacking a dedicated space where aspiring artists, makers, and creators could gather, collaborate, and nurture their passion for various art forms. This is where the idea of the 510 Art Lab was born.

Our vision for the 510 Art Lab is to create a vibrant and inclusive hub that serves as a haven for artistic exploration, skill development, and community engagement. We envision a place where painters, sculptors, weavers, photographers, writers, musicians, and creators of all kinds can come together to inspire one another, share ideas, and foster innovation.

In addition to creating a space for rural art opportunities, engaging in art can have several mental health benefits, as it provides a creative and expressive outlet that can promote emotional well-being and improve overall mental health. Some of the key mental health benefits of art include:

Stress Reduction        Social Connection          Self-Esteem         Relaxation       Self Expression       Mindfulnesslness       Sense of Achievement

We currently have about 55 members, representing nearly 10 different towns and covering about a 50-mile radius.  We have also worked with Eagles Healing Nest, Wacosa and after-school programs to bring art to veterans, disabled adults and children.  Future events in the 510 Art Lab Listening Room and a new gallery space are meant to stimulate and grow art appreciation among our community members.

Our 7-person volunteer board, 2 part-time staff members, and a host of community volunteers look forward to the future of the 510 Art Lab and what it holds for the enhancement of our community.  We invite you to be a part of our creative journey!
