Why Saint Therese on Give to the Max Day?

Pastoral  Care has been the cornerstone of our mission and a part of our holistic approach to care since we first opened our doors in 1968. We believe that spirituality is a foundation for quality health care, vibrant community living and end of life care, and that is why we continue to ensure spirituality remains a core part of our care standard.

Every person in the Saint Therese family is unique and valued. By connecting through spirituality and forming personal, meaningful bonds, we seek to genuinely know and understand the needs of our residents.

Our compassionate pastoral care team journeys alongside our residents through times of transition, joy, and hardship. Their work is their calling, so no matter the need, they provide a listening ear and a comforting presence to all.

  • Pastoral Care relates to residents according to their current emotional situation and prioritizes what is most important to them, in the moment”, Duane Bauer, Pastoral Care Director at Saint Therese of Woodbury

Our senior living communities offer residents of all faiths, and their families, the ability to attend regular services in the chapels in our communities. The Pastoral Care teams also offer individual support, communion, rosary, feast days services, memorial services, spiritual care, and comfort during end of life.

  • A resident and lifelong Catholic man admitted directly that he was “unable to do things” for himself as much. Early on, Pastoral Care staff and volunteers helped him attend Mass in the main chapel. He was so grateful as he had not been able to attend Mass for some time. As his health began declining instead of attending mass, he accepted communion in his room. Sometime later, a volunteer Eucharistic Minister visited him to offer communion. She prayed aloud, with the resident whispering or mouthing some words along with her. Just a few hours later he died. “He received spiritual care at Saint Therese that he would most likely not have received otherwise.”- Mark Nygaard, Chaplain at Saint Therese of New Hope.

All gifts this Give to the Max Day will support our Pastoral Care Fund. This fund directly supports the pastoral care programs at each of our communities.
