SACA Food Shelf and Thrift Store provides food and other basic needs items to individuals and families in southern Anoka County and NE Minneapolis, although we never turn away anyone who needs our help. Last year, we distributed over 800,000 pounds of food to people in our community. Our mission is to provide food and resources to those in need while empowering dignity and independence.

Did you know that 1 in 9 Minnesotans, including 1 in 6 Minnesotan kids, don’t know where their next meal will come from? The pandemic and skyrocketing inflation mean more people are relying on our services than ever before. Your donation can have an immediate impact! Consider donating monthly to help support the many programs of SACA.

SACA’s programs include:

  • A Client Choice Food Shelf
  • Thrift store (Open to the public). Our goal is to empower dignity to those we serve by giving them the opportunity to purchase clothing and household items at garage sale prices.  All funds go back to purchasing more food.
  • SACA Delivers, a volunteer-based program that delivers food shelf groceries to home-bound seniors and disabled adults.
  • A low barrier homeless food program that offers individuals a supply of food and hygiene products that can be easily carried.
  • Seasonal Farm Fresh Produce Distributions
  • School Backpack Program  that works with local schools the means to discreetly pack food for students at risk of missing meals.
  • Holiday Toys and Dinner Distribution.  With donations, we are able to provide a holiday meal (Thanksgiving or Christmas) with all the fixings.
