Royal Guard Performing Arts

Royal Guard Performing Arts is a non-profit organization serving members from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro Area of Minnesota. We seek to foster a positive experience for all who participate by promoting education, creativity, and freedom of expression through the unification of the marching arts industry, music education, and the performing arts.  

We use Winter Color Guard as our vehicle for artistic expression.  Winter Guard is the sport of indoor color guard and is referred to as the Sport of the Arts. Modern color guard combines the use of flags, sabers, mock rifles and other equipment, as well as dance and interpretive movement to create a themed show that is typically performed in competition January-April.  

The activity provides a positive, inclusive and safe environment for members to grow as performers, develop leadership skills, create meaningful relationships and improve time management and organizational skills.

In the fall of 2024, we launched a NEW Winter Color Guard Ensemble for adults of all ages.  We are excited to provide this unique activity for those who want to continue to perform and to improve their skills so that they can be better teachers, designers and administrators and help to impact the activity in our community.

This new group will rehearse throughout the fall and will begin the performance season in January 2025.  Royal Guard Winter Color Guard will perform throughout the Twin Cities Area and Western Wisconsin through the end of March.  We also hope to offer clinics and will be exploring other programming options throughout the year.

As a new ensemble, we have start-up costs, including equipment, uniforms, gym floor covering, as well as standard operating costs such as practice space rental fees and administrative costs. In order to make this activity available to all who wish to participate we are working to keep membership fees reasonable.

While we participate in a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, we also rely on donations and matching gifts from generous supporters and donors.  Thank you for considering a donation to help grow this unique activity in our community!

Royal Guard History and Mission

Royal Guard Performing Arts was formed in the spring of 2019, and our first project was to start a Winter Color Guard for youth and young adults.  The group came together and performed and competed as an Independent A Class Winter Guard during the winter of 2020. The group performed through the winter of 2023.  The group was inactive in 2024.  During this break, we saw a void that needed to be filled and moved forward with the Adult All Age Ensemble.

We have been working diligently to lay the foundation for a fresh new organization that will once again be able to offer life changing experiences for youth and adults of all ages.  We are asking for your support in continuing to make this vision a reality.

Royal Guard Performing Arts provides an outlet for participants to express themselves, build self-esteem, and build leadership and organizational skills. The group builds a foundation for all people to achieve success as they purse education, business and career opportunities. It fosters community involvement and civic accountability through the expectations of self-management, team management and personal growth.
