106 participants, 68 organizations, and four legislators attended our Music-Making Matters: Brain Prep for Pre-Readers Summit on October 27th. We announced a proposed legislative bill to establish the:

MN MUSICAL FITNESS / READING READINESS PROGRAM

GOAL: All children musically fit and ready to read by kindergarten

PROBLEM: 40% of US fourth graders (39% in Minnesota) cannot read at a basic level.

SOLUTION: Use singing and basic music skills to develop young children's brains for reading - based on a substantial amount of brain research

WHO WE ARE
Rock 'n' Read Project is a 501c3 nonprofit that helps families, educators, and organizations use singing and basic music skills to develop young brains for reading by providing training and resources. 

WHAT WE KNOW
Research has found that the way a brain processes and remembers sound is the foundation to reading, and singing and basic music skills develop it.
