RezCycle Mobile Bike Shop at White Earth Reservation 2017 Summer Programing

RezCycle is a Minnesota registered 501(c)3 non-profit Mobile Community Bike Shop founded by Alex Sigmundik that started operation on the White Earth Reservation in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of White Earth in the Summer of 2015.  RezCycle seeks to help develop life skills, job skills, leadership skills and empowerment in Native Youth by providing an Earn-A-Bike Program, Bike Mechanic Apprentice Program, and Bike Safety Rodeos and organized group rides that encourage safe and healthy bicycle riding. Additionally RezCycle seeks to give youth ownership of the program by participating on the RezCycle Bicycle Youth Council.

RezCycle successfully finished their second summer of programing in 2016 and will continue programing next summer in 2017. This winter we will be partnering with Free Bike4Kids ( for the second year in a row to provide 40 free bicycles to White Earth for our winter youth bicycle give away.

RezCycle 2016 Summer Programing

This past summer of programing in 2016 RezCycle had over 80 youth participants, provided over 100 rescued bicycles, gave out over 50 helmets, and put in over 200 hours of bicycle repair services between the Naytahwaush and Rice Lake communities. We also began a partnership with the White Earth Human Services Employment Department this summer and launched our Repair Technician Assistant Training program (R.T.A.T.) that gave their Supplemental Youth Employment Program a new job site. RezCycle looks forward to continuing this partnership in 2017.

Goals for RezCycle 2017 Summer Programing (year three of operations)

This year we are fundraising to make next year's programing in 2017 possible.  Donations will help us to get bicycle parts, tools, bicycle soft goods, bus repairs, expand to other communities, fund Bicycle Youth Council public works projects, and help with other operational costs. Year three here we come!

We need your help to make year three possible! Our mobile bicycle repair shop has broken down. We are in need of a new vehicle to build another one. RezCycle has been operating out of an old school bus for the past two summers, and this past summer the bus retired for good.

We hope to have raised $5,000 by February 2017 to pay for another bus, and renovations.

It is very important that RezCycle does this so that we can continue to move our shop between the communities spread across White Earth, and to introduce our programming to other communities that are part of White Earth.
