For more than 50 years, Relate has been a leading provider of mental health services for individuals of all ages, couples, and families in the Western suburbs of Minneapolis. Our mission is: Caring professionals committed to helping change lives and build community. Relate works to be at the forefront of identifying community needs and providing the best possible care at the lowest cost.
Relate serves people in more than 80 nearby ZIP codes with most clients being from Chanhassen, Chaska, Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Mound, Orono, Plymouth, St. Louis Park, and Wayzata. Relate is particularly committed to growing school-linked mental health programs in these communities. The American Psychiatric Foundation states that 90% of people who develop a mental disorder show warning signs during adolescence or before which makes early intervention critical. Our 80+ person clinical staff works with 50 area schools, meeting students in one-on-one sessions and in groups for more than 800 cumulative hours a week. Additionally, work with youth in chemical diversion programs indicates a need for more intensive involvement on our part and we are exploring co-location service partnerships within the juvenile justice system.
Relate provides mental health and therapy services at no cost to the recipient for participants at four local food shelves including ICA, IOCP, PROP, and WeCAN where clinicians help people process, manage, and cope with various and intense life stressors, such as hunger and poverty. This work is important and crucial to the direct participants, their families, and community at large.
By 2030, one in five Minnesotans will be 65 years of age or older. It is well documented that counseling reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression for seniors, and research shows that it also protects against cognitive decline. Relate is pursuing collaborations with local senior communities to more effectively serve this group hard-hit by life changes, health problems, and risk factors.
Client Impact by the Numbers. Of the more than 12,000 community members who benefit from our care,
Relate’s community mental health model and overall impact is critical in these times of increasing distance and difficulty, and we hope you agree that coming together to knit a West Metro social safety net of mental wellness is essential. A gift to Relate is a gift to your neighbors and community. Please consider the option that works best for you and make a donation today.
