The Progressive is a national nonprofit print magazine and an online news resource. In our pages and online we discuss national politics, but we are more concerned about the effects of policy on the citizenry than the political fortunes of candidates in Washington DC. 

In Madison, Wisconsin, our home for the last 109 years, we are covering the rightwing assault up close. We are here to uphold and promote a more humane vision of society.

We are championing the public schools. Through our Public School Shakedown project we seek to EXPOSE the drive to privatize public education and CONNECT activists nationwide.

We need the help of donors like you to keep The Progressive going. Subscription fees pay just half of the operating expenses of our organization—the rest of our support comes from organizations and individuals who support free speech, independent journalism, and progressive values.
