Across Minnesota, queer and trans people—especially outside the Twin Cities—are navigating isolation and hostility. Prism exists to change that. We’re building community, belonging, and real power in every corner of the state.

In just our first year, Prism held seventeen listening sessions with more than 500 people from Two Harbors to Winona and everywhere in between. We’ve heard about book bans and harassment, the struggle to find affirming healthcare, and the deep desire for LGBTQ community close to home. And again and again, people tell us the same thing: “I didn’t know there were others like me here.”

At a session in Apple Valley, one participant, Perry, shared that life in the South Metro often made him feel invisible—until he walked into a Prism gathering and finally felt seen. “Prism has given me the courage to step up, the audacity to believe change is possible, and an organizing community to make that change real," he said. Stories like Perry’s are why this work matters.
