PPSM (PSI-MN) is the voice for mental health during & after pregnancy.

We are a trusted ally for families & practitioners, providing support, advocacy, awareness and training during this vulnerable time. We connect anyone who is struggling to support & quality resources, along with reassurance that you are not alone.

Through a strong partnership with the mental health community, we ensure the best care for parents and families. We are a volunteer organization paving the way for perinatal mental health, and setting the standard for care nationwide.

Our Mission

Our organization's mission is to engage parents, families, and professionals in promoting optimal emotional well-being during pregnancy and postpartum.

Please support our mission by donating money or volunteering your time!

Resource List

At PPSM, we are working to break the silence and stigma associated with mental health during the perinatal period. We offer a community resource list of vetted mental health providers and prescribers as well as integrative health providers, including chiropractors, acupuncturists, midwives, and doulas. Our providers are here to listen, to support you, and to help guide you in your recovery.

*All our providers have been vetted to determine their competency and advanced training in Perinatal Mental Health.

Commitment & Connection to the Community

PPSM is a volunteer-run organization. Our livelihood and ability to advocate for proper care and treatment for women, men and families struggling with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) is based on our members, volunteers and financial contributions.

Your financial support helps us to continue to offer:

- 5-6 community & professional trainings per year

- Free awareness-building educational opportunities

- Networking among key stakeholders & providers in MN

- Individual & group peer support options

- Professional continuing education to our members

- Legislative advocacy

- Awareness information distribution

- Postpartum support to underserved populations

Here are a few examples:

The Radhika Lal Snyder Postpartum Doula Program provides free postpartum doula support to families that have a financial need. Applications are open each quarter, and we have a list of doulas who are trained in trauma informed care and PMADs that each family can choose from. In the first year of the program we served 2 families, this year we have served 9 with hopes of adding 3 more in the last quarter!

Our Peer Support Program connects parents who have overcome perinatal mood and anxiety disorders to parents who are in the trenches of postpartum. They offer camaraderie, reassurance, and hope that things can and will get better. Our peer support volunteers are also trained in perinatal mental health disorders and can be a first stop in getting help.

The Baby Brain Podcast comes out every week to help raise awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and provide resources to new parents. We have covered topics like coping with lack of sleep, how to help colicky babies, perinatal rage, bereavement, and all things mental health!

We also provide free informational resources to hospitals, clinics, birthing centers, and childcare centers across the state! These resources are created by licensed clinicians and are provided free of charge to any organization in MN that wants to display them.
