Portman Hockey provides a youth hockey experience for kids in Lakeside and Lester Park.

Portman hockey has been a staple in our community for over 60 years and has always offered a quality hockey program. Over the years, many Portman alumni have gone on to earn scholarships at some of the finest colleges in the country and some have even gone on to play hockey professionally. There’s so much more that emerges when kids get together at Portman. Bonds are forged, youngsters learn about hard work, discipline and respect for others. They also receive a ton of exercise — on the cheap, mind you — all the while developing a passion for the great sport of ice hockey. Boys and girls ages 4 to 11 can participate and develop their hockey and skating skills on the 3 hockey rinks and the largest pleasure rink on the east side of Duluth.

Portman is a 100% volunteer run organization, run by the current parents of the boys and girls that play for Portman. Donations will be used to help pay for rink maintenance and upkeep, purchasing new jerseys and equipment, hockey scholarships, and to reduce the overall cost for all of the kids associated with the program.

2021 GOALS: This year we are working to raise $5,000 to improve our fencing around the hockey rinks, to create a safer environment for the players and other people using the rinks during the winter.
