Support & Sprout Poplar Bridge's Outdoor Classroom!

After three years of planning, we are excited to announce the building of the outdoor classroom at Poplar Bridge! This has been a vision of several passionate staff members at PB for many years. They have worked with the PTSA and landscape experts in planning, budgeting, and design.

An outdoor classroom offers students the chance to learn in a new environment, sprouting new experiences and relationships. 

Our new classroom will have an outdoor learning area and an abundance of space to play, including walking paths, logs, and boulders. It will truly enhance the space and serve as a resource to the students and community for years to come!

To complete this project, a professional landscape company has been hired to prepare the site and begin implementation. With the final cost of this project, the PTSA is requesting support from the community to ensure this project is completed in a timely fashion, ensuring all students can use it now and in the future.

Project background

• In 2022, PB teachers successfully won a $10,000 grant to purchase all the plants needed for the site development. 
• The PTSA has provided $5,000 of additional funding to support this project.
• In the spring of 2024, teachers solicited estimates from local companies to finalize project costs. The remaining balance of the project is $24,000.
• The PTSA is committed to ensuring this project is completed by local professionals, with support from the community to ensure sustainability and proud ownership of this incredible new space. 

Your donation will go towards:

• Ensuring the site is prepped by removing sod & dirt. 
• Creating gardening berms, adding topsoil to planting areas, & cultivating areas for wild prairie seeds.
• Scattering of diamond dust material to ensure the site is ADA-approved.
• Installing outdoor classroom areas & walking paths.
