Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

A nonprofit organization

Prince of Peace Mission Outpost is proving urgently needed food for those who are food insecure in these challenging times, providing hope and wholeness in Jesus’ name. Your generosity will support both the staff and needed supplies to make this ministry possible.

  • “I just want to thank you guys for everything that you are doing during the coronavirus [pandemic]. I know it’s hard for you and I just want you to know how much I really appreciate all of you, and how it makes a difference in my life. So, I just wanted to say thank you and I love you guys.” – Nora, Mission Outpost guest

Mission Outpost is grateful for the opportunity to be a hub of hope and wholeness to our community during these strange and challenging times. We continue to serve families and individuals in the South Metro during Minnesota’s stay at home orders and are working to provide food and resources while keeping our staff, volunteers and guests safe and healthy.

  • Maribel is worried about her husband’s brother and his family. They are not able to visit or help them because the grandparents are sick with the virus. She is worried that the virus will spread to other family members because the whole family lives in a small apartment even with the grandparents staying in their room.

In order to practice social distancing and serve our community safely, we have temporarily scaled down our services. We are currently providing pre-packaged food with no contact drive thru delivery. Our system is efficient and focused on minimizing contact amongst volunteers, staff and guests. In addition to food, we are providing resources, including information on other local food shelves and organizations, local companies who are currently hiring, and what to do if you think you have COVID-19 symptoms.

To further reduce the risk of spreading the virus, we are not currently accepting donations of food, clothing, or personal hygiene items. To minimize contact, we are purchasing pre-packaged food from a warehouse at a discounted price. Due to our lack of donated goods, we are relying on financial donations to keep our ministry running smoothly.

  • Ana is on her own and not currently working because she has no childcare.
  • Sandra is working in a kitchen for a restaurant that is doing take-out only. She needs the job to make it financially, but many times is in so much pain she can barely stand. She is afraid to miss work thinking they may let her go.

As the pandemic continues, we expect to see more and more people that have been furloughed, working on reduced pay or hours, or lost their jobs outright. The care and services provided by Mission Outpost is needed now more than ever before. Our staff and volunteers are dreaming about what a “new normal” for Mission Outpost might look like in the weeks and months ahead.

  • Melanie is a young mother of two. When she was asked if she had any prayer requests, her face crumbled, and tears started running down her face. She spoke quietly because the kids were in the backseat. She said “Everything went wrong today. Absolutely everything. I am trying to be strong in front of the kids, but I am so tired.” We told here that our prayer team would pray for her and her kids, to give her patience, guidance, and peace of heart. We told her that she is doing the absolute best that she can, and to give herself some grace when things don’t go as planned.

Your donation during #GiveAtHomeMN will help us serve our neighbors in need, now and into the future. Thank you for your generosity!
