Playwright Community Fund
This Give to the Max Day, please consider supporting playwrights and the recovery of America's cultural ecosystem by giving to the Playwright Community Fund. A gift of $75 will provide a playwright with unlimited access to our online resources for an entire year.
Our 2,100+ membership community consists of playwrights at every level – from up-and-comers to Pulitzer-prize winners – all working to move the theatrical canon forward. These writers are brought together through online play readings, innovative classes and seminars, interactive feedback sessions, and thoughtful panel discussions.
In addition to cultivating this much-needed creative home, our membership services also provide access to the world's largest curated database of paid playwriting opportunities, as well as development readings with professional actors, dramaturgical services, and much more.
For many of our members, these services are vital to the success of their art and livelihood. But this year, we have seen a heartbreaking number of membership cancellation requests. When we inquire about the reason, they all say it is due directly to financial hardship stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Typically, the Center’s Playwright Community Fund allows us to provide free memberships to all who need it. But this is no normal year. And our funds do not come close to helping all those that need them.
This Give to the Max Day, we have a goal of supporting 100 playwrights. If you have the means to do so, we hope you will consider making a gift of $75. With this gift, together, we will champion an individual playwright for the year, giving them the gift of creative community.
