Playwrights’ Center sustains, develops, and advocates for playwrights and their work to realize their full artistic potential.
Through the practice of inclusive theater-making, Playwrights’ Center fosters engagement towards an equitable, empathetic, and boundlessly imaginative world.
From our Center in Minneapolis/Saint Paul, we serve 2,500+ playwrights and theater makers across the United States and internationally, representing a vast array of identities, experience levels, aesthetics, and relationships to the professional theater field.
THEATER BEGINS HERE
There is always light. Even in the darkest times, there is light.
This year at Playwrights' Center, while free artistic expression and artists themselves were facing constant threat, we turned on the lights in a brand-new building dedicated to playwrights.
With your help, we did a good thing in hard times.
We need you now to keep this good thing going.
Playwrights' Center unequivocally declares that the work of the artist matters, and that the arts are central to the vibrancy and health of our communities. As a supporter of the Center, we know you believe this as well. Through your support you’ve declared that you see a future for the arts in America, and that you are willing to DO something to manifest it.
This moment is placing so many demands on our resources and attention. Art is certainly not the only thing under attack. As an artist service organization, Playwrights’ Center must remain focused on our mission and unwavering in our values.
The new Center serves as a beacon for all that we can achieve together. Our goals are to invite more people in, expand our programming, and increase the services and resources we offer to playwrights—all in a moment when support for the arts through traditional funding streams (like the Federal government) is dwindling.
Will you make a donation today, to help us achieve these goals?
Relentless hope is necessary in dark times. Supporting an artistic organization committed to diversity means actively practicing that hope. It means refusing to cave to threats, choosing to fight pressure, and standing firm in your beliefs.
When people say, "we need artists now more than ever," they are affirming that artists are the light. Playwrights’ voices guide us to brighter futures. They help us remember what matters so we can continue to find the strength to defend it.
When you support us, and add your light, you do the same for them.
Please give to Playwrights’ Center, and help us continue to do the good work of supporting artists and championing free artistic expression. Together we can light the way to a radically brave, bold, and equitable future.
