In 1985, Sr. Rose Tillemans opened a storefront in Minneapolis to give folks who feel they have nowhere to belong, A PLACE TO BELONG.

Peace House is a welcoming community located in the Phillips neighborhood in the heart of inner city Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded and supported by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, we support one another by prayer and meditation and respectful listening. All who come to Peace House share on an equal footing with each other as persons. The members of Peace House seek to work not for the poor, but with the poor by providing a safe peaceful atmosphere built on prayer, acceptance, a sense of belonging, friendship, dignity and mutuality of service. The Peace House Community seeks to empower each person through mutual sharing, respectful listening, shared responsibility and appreciation of each other's contribution.
