Current Projects

Connecting recently re-settled refugee familes and accelerating language skills

• PC United has partnered with World Relief MN to assist refugee families prosper in the Twin Cities
• Our volunteers set up computers in the homes of refugee families, spending a minimum of two hours initially, training children and parents in a variety of educational programs
• Our goal is to impact the lives of 200 school-aged children, visiting at least one refugee family per week in 2011
• Our continually growing involvement with local families is helping open new doors and opportunities to a new generation of ambitious children

Hogar de Niñas Belén: Bethlehem Girls Orphanage in Copiapó, Chile

• Hogar de Niñas Belén, under the leadership of Sister Gloria Serna, provides care and support for girls and young women that range in age from infancy to 18 years
• Most girls and young women come to Hogar de Niñas Belén from broken homes where their basic needs were neglected by their guardians
• It is the goal of PC United to aid Sister Gloria's mission by building Hogar de Niñas Belén a computer lab, helping the girls and young women gain valuable skills that may one day prove to better their lives as they venture into a life beyond the care of the orphanage

Who We Are
PC United is a non-profit organization focusing on empowering disadvantaged children in schools & orphanages locally and abroad.  We re-purpose donated desktops and laptops to build computer labs with the aim of bridging the technological divide & uniting children with their full potential.

Our Mission
Our aim is to teach children computer skills and provide them with the chance at a meaningful education through the use of computers; in an effort to help realize their potential, build technological knowledge, and gain skills necessary for a brighter future.

Recycling Old Computers
We use Ubuntu (the leader in Linux operating systems) to re-purpose older computers. With Ubuntu’s user friendly & extremely lean operating system we are able to provide children computers that work as fast and as efficient as today’s computers.
