Payne-Phalen Community Band

The Payne Phalen Community Band (est. 2025) is a community band in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood of East Saint Paul in Minnesota. We rehearse weekly on Mondays at Johnson High School.

The band’s mission is:

1.     Promoting the continued musical education and musical growth of all band members

2.     Supporting music education in St. Paul Public Schools

3.     Fostering a greater appreciation for band music by offering concerts to the public.

Supporting our organization not only directly impacts our organization's mission, but it allows us to fund the following:

• The use of rehearsal space and auditorium at Johnson Senior High School
• Building a new music library (each concert piece we perform can cost upwards of 50-300 dollars)
• Music licensing fees / concert streaming fees
• The purchase and repair of band owned instruments (larger instruments or instruments typically not owned by members, ex: tubas, English horn, bass/contrabass clarinet, etc.)
• Transportation costs for any concerts not held at Johnson High School
• Allows us to collaborate with other musicians and groups to bring high quality music to East St. Paul
• Other band needs as they arise
