Our Saviour's Community Services provides dignified shelter and supportive housing for adults experiencing homelessness and classes for adult English learners.
Our Saviour’s Community Services provides dignified shelter and housing for single adults, and education for adult English language learners through our two programs – Our Saviour’s Housing and the English Learning Center.
YOUR GIFT WILL HELP US CLOSE A CRITICAL GAP IN HOMELESS SERVICES.
At Our Saviour’s Housing, our mission is eliminating homelessness by providing shelter, support, and a chance to start over. We are a community of hope for those who need a home.
We take on homelessness through two different solutions – emergency shelter and permanent supportive housing. Our shelter is open 24/7 with 21 beds available, including 10 beds reserved for medical respite. We strategically reduced shelter capacity in 2021 and launched the respite pilot in 2022, prioritizing guests’ rest and wellness.
Medical respite provides a safe place to heal, access services, and plan for next steps. Since February of this year, 20+ people experiencing homelessness have benefitted from our medical respite space, case management, and care coordination. Our program has provided a place to recuperate after a hospital stay and offers a range of services and connections to resources.
All shelter guests have their own room, ensuring privacy and safety. Guests also receive case management support, three meals a day, access to our laundry facilities, and support from OSH staff members.
Our Permanent Supportive Housing Program serves people who are 65+ or are 18+ and living with a mental, chemical, or physical health condition. For as long as needed, we provide support to approximately 90 residents in affordable rental housing, on-site and scattered around Hennepin County. After years (even decades) of homelessness, residents have truly found their way home. With ongoing case management support, residents also work to improve their overall health and wellness.
YOUR GIFT WILL HELP US PROVIDE TWICE AS MANY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AS WE DID BEFORE COVID.
The English Learning Center is a learning community of adult learners, advocates, staff, and volunteer teachers. We are dedicated to supporting adult learners seeking to increase their English literacy as they navigate life in the U.S.
Students at the English Learning Center came to the U.S. as immigrants or refugees, representing countries all around the world. Each student brings a unique set of experiences that adds to the diversity of our learning community.
We welcome students from many educational backgrounds. For some, the ELC is their first formal educational experience. For others, our school offers a chance to brush up on skills before pursuing education at a higher level. Everything we do is informed by their input, goals and needs.
Our volunteers and staff also bring a variety of life experiences to our classes. Thanks to our team of volunteers, the ELC is able to offer smaller class sizes where students can receive individualized attention. Together, we listen to and learn from each other to cultivate an educational community that prioritizes our learners.
More than anything else, your gift - at whatever level is meaningful for you - makes it possible for more members of our community to safely access the essential services of shelter, stable housing, and education. Thank you for standing with us in this transformational work.
