Nourish 282

Nourish 282 is a grass roots non-profit serving families in need within the St. Anthony/New Brighton School District 282, pre-k through 12th grade.  Nourish 282 relies upon our local businesses, community members, grants, and community partnerships to fund our programs. We truly could not do it without the support of our generous community. Nourish 282 is 100% managed and run by an all-volunteer workforce. We are grateful for the more than 60 friends, teachers and staff, and community members who help us each year.

We have several initiatives for families, the largest being food relief. Each month Nourish 282 provides food assistance to families in the form of a grocery store gift card.  We understand the importance of families being able to choose the items they most need and want, that choice means dignity. We are serving more families than ever, over 250 people. 

In April 2020 we responded to the pandemic shut down by doubling our typical monthly allotment and have continued that support today. In addition to the increased monthly allotment, we organized monthly pantry collections which have evolved into a year round pantry. Thanks to the generosity of Faith United Methodist Church, we have a space all our own to house much needed supplies for our clients to self-choose needed products such as household products, personal care items, infant care, and birthday bags.

Our second largest initiative is the Free Store. Each October, Nourish 282 collects new and gently used outerwear (jackets, snow pants, boots, mittens, hats, etc.) from our generous community. We then set up a store for families to shop, try on, and go home warmer. 

In addition to the grocery gift cards, Nosh & Gather, Valerie's French Kitchen and Kitchen Coalition/2nd Harvest generously provide weekly meals to 16-20 of the families we serve. We are able to provide delivered meals for mare than 100 people each week!

A donation of $600 will sponsor one child for an entire school year. Please consider choosing to become an ongoing monthly donor. These monthly donations help ensure we keep our pantry shelves full.
