For those seeking a college education to build a better life for their family, one thing propels them forward - HOPE

A Student's Hope

“I am truly honored to be a recipient of the Kopp Presidential Scholarship. This scholarship continues to motivate me.

Being a single mother and working full-time is not an ideal work/life scenario. I currently work in a leadership role at a medical device manufacturing company to provide for my family. As great as the experience was as a Team Lead, I realized that this would be as high as I could move in roles without a degree. This is where I began to ask myself, “Do I enjoy that job? Do I want my son to see me work this kind of job forever?” The short answer was - No, I did not

I face many challenges as a young mother, a single mother, and a woman of color. Those challenges helped develop who I am today. This award means a lot to my son and me. Not only will my son see the opportunities and support that I received but that I am also paving the way for him to have a more successful and substantial future.”

Nourish a Student's Hope

As a non-residential college, 67% of our students attend part-time. They work to cover rent and food for themselves and in many cases, their families.

The 20/20/20 Challenge empowers you to change the lives of NHCC students with one gift that supports three areas:

Food Cupboard
It is hard to study when you are hungry. One-third of your gift goes to the NHCC Food Cupboard which fights food insecurity with food and hygiene items for NHCC students.

Scholarships
Over half (61%) of NHCC students are either (1) students of color; (2) low income; or (3) first generation. Receiving a scholarship is a helping hand to their start or completion of a college education. One-third of your gift will go to into our scholarship fund.

Creating Opportunities Fund
Lives are changed when given an opportunity. North Hennepin Community College creates opportunities for students to reach their academic goals, succeed in their chosen professions, and make a difference in the world. One-third of your gift goes to the Creating Opportunities Fund.
