Giving Families a Future

NUMAS Haus provides emergency shelter and support services to homeless women and children in Brown County, MN. NUMAS Haus can hold up to three families at one time. The program is designed to help families find permanent housing within 90 days, while addressing the root causes of homelessness for each family through counseling, educational programs, and case management. The goal is to assist the families in gaining long-term, stable housing while allowing the children to remain enrolled in their school while their families become established.

Since opening our doors in August of 2016, NUMAS Haus has served over 75 families, many of which are still thriving in their own apartments or houses. NUMAS Haus has about a 70% success rate for families that complete our program and move into their own housing.

Homelessness is an issue. Not just in the larger cities in the state of Minnesota, but also our small communities. Just because we can't easily see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Please donate to NUMAS Haus to help support us as we open our eyes and hearts to homelessness in our area.

Note: Our name is built on the first letters of the name of the organization that birthed the idea of NUMAS Haus -- New Ulm Ministerial Association--a description of our mission--Shelter--and house spelled the German way, due to the German roots of our community. Spoken aloud, NUMAS sounds like the Greek pneuma, meaning spirit. It reflects the faith-based origin of our organization as well as our intention to shelter minds, bodies, and spirits of our resident families.
