...because every child deserves a healthy smile!

  • 55% of third graders in Minnesota have a history of dental caries and 18% have untreated tooth decay.
  • Although oral diseases are preventable, they remain highly prevalent, particularly among vulnerable and underserved populations.
  • Disparities exist between urban and rural areas when it comes to access to dental health care; only one-quarter of Minnesota dentists practice in rural areas.
  • Dental decay in primary teeth starts at the gum line and is very hard to treat or stop. Education for expectant and new parents is crucial to prevent this very painful condition.

The Minnesota Oral Health Zone, established in June 2014, engages stakeholders concerned with children's health and well-being in a comprehensive, community-based approach to breaking the cycle of pediatric dental disease and building healthier communities by harnessing the educational resources and support of the National Children's Oral Health Foundation: America's ToothFairy. Your donation will stay in Minnesota and help our community partners to educate more children and parents, provide toothbrushes/toothpaste and other products to children in need and support the development of systems in communities that will help us prevent needless suffering in our state's children. Childhood tooth decay is the most chronic, yet preventable disease in children.

“The multi-faceted NCOHF kits are the most innovative we at Children’s Dental Services have seen in our decades of providing oral health outreach and education to the Minnesota community. The materials are truly inspiring, culturally appropriate and fun!”

Sarah Wovcha, JD, MPH, Executive Director, Children’s Dental Services, Minneapolis, MN

“Our positive experience working with America’s ToothFairy's life-changing programs sparked our interest in further expanding our wonderful partnership!”

Jim Clark, President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of America
