Music St Croix

Donations go directly to programming - chamber music performance and outreach to schools and seniors.

Music Saint Croix presents chamber music of excellent quality by professional musicians from our region, at reasonable prices for audiences in Stillwater.  We are dedicated to creating an intimate and informal chamber music environment, for the benefit of the community, the greater culture, and the artists themselves.  Since 1997, Music Saint Croix has attracted a passionate and enthusiastic audience for chamber music by creating a relaxed concert atmosphere, by holding post-concert receptions for the express purpose of audience/performer conversations and by featuring a vibrant and exciting mix of chamber ensembles and music from a variety of styles.

 While groups from the Twin Cities and other locations (such as the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra) do “run-out performances” in Stillwater, Music Saint Croix is the only truly local organization of professional musicians performing chamber music in the St. Croix Valley.  That also means that no other chamber music organizations are involved with the St. Croix Valley community, patronizing our businesses and providing services for our schools and seniors.  While some of our musicians reside in the Twin Cities, Music Saint Croix is truly based in Stillwater, with as many local board members and local professional musicians as possible, and community service focused on the St. Croix Valley.

MSC has collaborated with the Valley Chamber Chorale and the St. Croix Jazz Orchestra in Fall joint performances for the last two decades.   Held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Music in the Valley – A Gala Celebration is offered free to the public and draws about 300-400 people.  This is a great way to expand our audience, while providing the opportunity for an even wider scope and variety of chamber music.

We are very proud of Music Saint Croix’ patronage of community businesses for services such as lighting, program design and printing, catering, and many other aspects of concert production.  We strongly believe in supporting local business and networking with other nonprofits in the St. Croix Valley as much as possable. MSC performs informal concerts as community outreach at several nursing homes and senior activity centers in our area.  We patronize local business whenever we can. 

Music Saint Croix’ concerts are targeted not only at classical music lovers, but also at the St. Croix Valley community as a whole. We program music with an eye toward performing interesting and varied selections, so that people with different musical tastes will find these programs enjoyable.  Music Saint Croix audiences love “standard repertoire” chamber music, but they are amazingly open to other literature.  We have performed jazz, choral music, Renaissance repertoire, and many other genres, and garnered positive and excited audience comments.
