Mukwa: A Journey of Advocacy and Activism
$40 Raised
Mukwa envisions a decolonized future where no systems of caste and oppression exist and all beings are thriving for all generations to come.
To achieve our goals, we are creating a network of Bear Den Organizers across Turtle Island, starting with states like South Dakota, North Dakota Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, and Illinois throughout 2025. This network will provide strong support to the Mukwa Matriarchs and their communities. We are actively looking for passionate Indigenous Women to take on these vital roles, while also recognizing and appreciating the contributions of our allied communities.
Peaceful nonviolent direct action is of utmost importance to our Native Nations as it represents the enduring spirit of Indigenous Resistance that has spanned over 500 years. Mukwa, recognizing this significance, has established unique programs - Mutual Aid, Bear Clan, and Expect US! These programs serve as powerful tools to mobilize and bolster the efforts of our Matriarch Board in advancing Indigenous Resistance.
Additionally, Mukwa is dedicated to providing Organizer Training, which covers the fundamentals of organizing, NDVA and Mutual Aid organizing, and creating spaces for peer education on various aspects of Indigenous Organizing.
Within these current programs we have several projects in the works including, Momma Bears, Resist, Organize, Assert, Rise! R.O.A.R.!, Guardians of Turtle Island, Gichigamiminisinoowag (Lake Superior Warriors), Keep It In The Ground/No Pipelines, Mutual Aid, Movement Education, Just Transitioning for the 7th Generation.
Through these programs, projects and more, Mukwa aims to expand the movement education network and enhance accessibility as we empower Indigenous communities and strive towards a brighter future for the 7th Generation.
A nonprofit, non-partisan change group, Indigenous Women led organization working to implement Indigenous Sovereignty worldwide by advocating for the rights of Indigenous communities, uplifting Indigenous values, empowering Indigenous leadership, providing education, and taking action to enhance the well-being, understanding, and equality for all to thrive on Mother Earth.
