Mount Olivet Day Services Provides Enriching Experiences Through Adult Day Care

This past summer Mount Olivet Day Services discontinued our child care program. With so many changes due to the pandemic, especially with so many parents now working from home, it was best for us to change as well.

This change opened up a wonderful new opportunity to increase the services to our adult day services participants and increase our enrollment for those in our community in need of services. The newly available space will allow us to provide a dedicated craft room, sensory room, and increase our dining space.

We are enrolling many more participants with memory loss. We plan to use the former child play area to provide an outdoor walking space for our participants to get some fresh air during the summer months while remaining in a safe and secure space. The remodeling project will involve removing walls, adding additional handicap accessible restrooms, new flooring, painting, moving interior doors, and redecorating appropriately for our adult participants.

The estimated cost of this project is approximately $170,000.

Your generous support will help us to continue providing high-quality care for the people we serve. Gifts of any size are needed and will make a difference. There are many ways to give, so call us at 612.821.3151 or email thauser@mtolivethomes.org to learn more. We would love to hear from you.

Since 1995, Mount Olivet Day Services adult day program has served hundreds of adults seeking therapeutic activity, socialization, health monitoring, and educational enrichment. Licensed by the Department of Human Services for 35 adults per day, we serve primarily seniors and others age 18 and older. The adult day program is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm. Daily participation can vary but a consistent schedule is preferred.

Transportation if necessary, can be arranged through our van service or Metro Mobility.

Each day a hearty noon meal and several snacks are served. Special diets are available.

Participants are provided may opportunities for creative, intellectual, and physical development. Our days are filled with exercise, music, discussions, craft projects, baking activities, entertainment, spiritual services, and pet visits, as well as frequent excursions throughout the metro area.

Program participants are involved in the development of the activity/programming calendar.

Health monitoring and medication assistance is provided, both by a trained medication aide and registered nurse. Hair and beauty shop services can be arranged, as well as whirlpool bathing with support from an experienced bath aide.

Please call for full and half day rates. Financial assistance for those who qualify is available from Hennepin County and the Veteran’s Administration. Adult Day Service Programs are also eligible for coverage under most Long Term Care Insurance policies.

A free informational home visit or an on-site visit and lunch is available by appointment.
