Mission Manduhai is working to end domestic abuse in Mongolia. Please invest in our mission!
My name is Erdenechimeg Haltarhuu and I am originally from Mongolia, now living as a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis, MN. When I was in Mongolia I was physically and mentally abused - a story that is not pretty - but unfortunately not unique. One in three women have been victims of domestic abuse in Mongolia, and it is generally accepted in their culture that the men control the women. Often, if the women do not obey, they are beaten.
In Minnesota, women who experience domestic abuse have access to information to bring about positive change. But as we work to communicate with nomadic herders in Mongolia, we are educating and communicating through other channels (and my passion!) - THE CIRCUS. This is the heart and soul of Mission Manduhai. Your investment in our mission helps us to travel to the far reaches of Mongolia where there are no billboards, TV, electricity or running water. Our talented group of circus performers put on a free show, while also raising awareness during and after performances about the problem of domestic abuse.
Partnering with the National Center Against Violence (NCAV) in Mongolia, we give these nomadic people a strong positive message, information about how women can get out of a dangerous situation, and resources to help them create a better life. Most importantly, our circus performances enable us to reach the children and give this message to them early in life, while their hopes, dreams and lives are still young.
In Minnesota, Mission Manduhai is also active in promoting awareness about local and global domestic abuse issues through our lectures, presentations and performances at local schools and libraries - all while continuing to collaborate with Mongolia's NCAV about our ongoing missions.
Please invest in Mission Manduhai! Your gift helps to make our work possible, while knowing your investment is appreciated and used with the highest standards of stewardship and accountability.
