The Minnesota Recreation and Park Foundation (MRPF) was established in 1973 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 1974. It is the only non-profit organization in Minnesota solely dedicated to promoting excellence in the park and recreation profession.  The MRPF is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Minnesota by supporting recreation and parks through education, networking opportunities, programming grants, student and professional continuing education scholarships, and providing support to the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association (MRPA).

Our primary objective is to support the education, innovation, and training of all recreation professionals and students. As a result, all membership dues and contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible. The organization's membership currently consists of park and recreation professionals from throughout Minnesota. The affairs of the Foundation are Governed by a Board of Trustees that meets throughout the year to direct the activities of the organization. Funds raised by the Foundation and its members are used for a variety of worthwhile projects and initiatives including:

Scholarships for students pursuing studies in the field of parks and recreation. …..the Foundation has provided tens of thousands of dollars of financial support to over 100 students in the past 49 years.

Professional Enrichment Grants  ….. support professionals working in the field to attend advanced training, institutes, conferences and workshops

New Initiative Grants ….. funding is provided by the MRPF each year for programs and services that demonstrate innovation in parks and recreation.  These start-up grants allow agencies to try some new programs that may not be in their budget allocations.

Continuing Education ….. sponsorship of speakers at MRPA Conferences and seminars.
