The Minnesota Recreation and Park Foundation (MRPF) was established in 1973 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 1974. It is the only nonprofit organization in Minnesota dedicated solely to promoting excellence in the parks and recreation profession. Our mission is to provide equitable access to education and opportunities for the purpose of enhancing recreation and parks throughout Minnesota.

This year, thanks to the generosity of Jay Webber and Webber Recreation, donors will be entered into a drawing for tickets to the Minnesota Wild game on January 27 against the Chicago Blackhawks at Grand Casino Arena. The game begins at 7:30 pm. Every donation made to MRPF through Give to the Max Day will receive one entry.

Our focus is to support the education, innovation, and professional development of recreation professionals and students. All membership dues and contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible. Our members include professionals, students, retirees, sponsors, and supporters from across Minnesota who believe in strengthening the future of parks and recreation.

Funds raised by the Foundation support several key initiatives:

  • Scholarships for students pursuing studies in the parks and recreation field. Over the past 50 years, the Foundation has provided more than $100,000 in financial support to students.
  • Professional Enrichment Grants that help recreation professionals access advanced training, institutes, conferences, and workshops to enhance skills and strengthen their agencies.
  • New Initiative Grants that provide start-up funding each year for innovative programs and services in parks and recreation. These grants allow agencies to test new ideas that may not fit within existing budgets.
  • Continuing Education Support through sponsorship of speakers and sessions at MRPA conferences and seminars.
