Museum to preserve and promote education about early American glassware.

In 2012, an IRS 501(c3) non-profit (and Minnesota registered charity) was founded as the Minnesota Museum of American Pattern Glass with a website of  www.mnmapg.org . The mission of the Museum is to preserve, display, and promote the appreciation and understanding of a segment of early American industry; that of the production of pattern (pressed) glass for the American consumer.

A primary motivation for forming the Museum was to have a place to permanently house and display the glass collection and library, and to continue to develop the collection with further acquisitions and to provide an educational venue for students, collectors, historians, tourists and interested persons. There are currently over 11,000 pieces in the collection and the items represent glass articles made from the 1890’s until about 1925 which emphasize decorative techniques of ruby, amber and other staining, gold application and also enameling, etching and engraving.

The Museum is located on the commercial floor of the River Towers condominiums, suite A4, at the corner of Hennepin Avenue and First Street South in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Museum will also be starting a "Capital Fund" campaign in order that it may develop a fund that will allow accrued interest to cover yearly overhead expenses and, hopefully, in the future be able to expand into a larger museum space.  ALL contributions will be gratefully acknowledged and, since we are a registered Minnesota charity, we can provide you with documentation of your tax deductible gift as well.

The museum looks forward to hosting many of the "glass collector groups" in the USA that would like to have a meeting, convention or the like in Minneapolis as well as school and other groups from Minnesota and tourist groups.
