Every year there are numerous reports of animal cruelty, abuse, or neglect across the state of Minnesota. Still, we are aware that many cases go unreported, leaving those animals to suffer. Since 1987, Minnesota Federated Humane Societies has prioritized calls from concerned citizens who report suspected cases of animal cruelty, abuse, or neglect. Upon receiving a report, MFHS dispatches a trained state humane agent who then investigates the case in partnership with law enforcement officers to use the tools and training they’ve been given to ensure the applicable animal welfare laws are enforced. We support animals from the first report of abuse through the prosecution process, during which we assist in documenting evidence and providing charging recommendations. We play a critical role in bringing perpetrators of animal crimes to justice.

While we’re authorized in Minnesota statute, we operate as an independent nonprofit organization. We are not government funded. Your donation to MFHS provides the funding to:

  • Train, equip, and appoint state humane agents in underserved areas of Minnesota
  • Provide animal welfare education to law enforcement and the public
  • Support our dedicated staff who respond promptly to all reports of animal cruelty we receive

Animal cruelty, abuse, and neglect are crimes. Minnesota law provides protections for all animals. Minnesota Federated Humane Societies helps to uphold those laws. MFHS responds to every report of creatures who are in a hopeless, harmful, or neglectful situation.  Help us to fulfill our mission. Please donate now.
