Minnesota Council on Economic Education (MCEE)

A nonprofit organization

Economics and personal finance can be intimidating.

That's why MCEE has been equipping K-12 teachers and students to make sense of the economy and their personal finances since 1961.

MCEE is a small nonprofit based in Saint Paul. You may not have heard of us, but it's likely that our work has helped you or your family:

  • Since our founding, MCEE has trained 40,000+ teachers to teach economics and personal finance, impacting more than 3 million students. If you've taken an economics or personal finance class in Minnesota, your teacher was likely influenced by MCEE.
  • MCEE worked with the state in 2011 & 2021 to create the academic standards for teaching economics in public schools. If you have a child who's taken an economics class in the last decade, we helped make that happen.
  • In 2023, MCEE was the lead advocate in the passage of a state bill making personal finance a Minnesota high school graduation requirement, starting with the Class of 2028. If you know a student who will graduate in 2028 or later, MCEE will impact their education.
  • MCEE has also supported 120+ organizations throughout the state in developing workshops to help Minnesotans manage their finances and plan for the future.

Now more than ever, it's crucial for Minnesotans to understand the economic forces that shape our daily lives, and to make informed personal finance decisions. Help MCEE continue to empower teachers, students and communities!
