OUR MISSION: Matinee Musicale seeks to enrich the cultural life of Duluth through concerts of world class chamber music, music education, community outreach, and providing scholarships.

The 2026 Scholarship Recipients

You are the reason I can continue my viola performance degree... and I am so grateful to you all. Matinee Musicale is such a wonderful thing in the Duluth community, and I could not be more grateful... Thank you all, so much!"

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Your generous support will help sustain Matinee Musicale's college scholarship program. Each year Matinee Musicale supports twelve exceptional college-level musicians like the one quoted above, and provides them with scholarship awards to support their continuing education, and also celebrates them in our College Awards Concert. This scholarship support is a “new” activity of Matinee Musicale as we have only been making these awards since 1919 (our concert series began in 1900). This scholarship program was established as a memorial to “all active members of [Matinee Musicale] who have passed to the Great Beyond,” especially two members who died in the the great Moose Lake-Cloquet fire of 1918 and a third who died at sea a short time later while on her way to France to entertain troops during World War 1. We also support the youth-oriented Quartet Project of the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra, and the Duluth Superior Symphony Youth Orchestras. Your donation will help sustain thiese vital programs.
