Maria’s Voice is a poignant tribute to Maria Pew, a loving and confident woman whose life was tragically cut short by a domestic abuser in April 2020, leaving an enduring void that only her voice on domestic violence prevention can fill.

While Maria’s murder fills our hearts with sorrow, her legacy is our unwavering beacon, compelling us to spread awareness about the signs of domestic violence.

Here's what we're doing.

Education: Through the Maria's Voice Prevention Network, our domestic abuse prevention program, we're extending access to primary prevention in our community. This includes the critically acclaimed video "Common Signs ~ Common Knowledge," a 2022 Gold Telly Award recipient acknowledged for its excellence in video education and training.

Public Engagement: Abuse thrives in silence, but we steadfastly refuse to be silenced. We've collaborated with city officials, law enforcement, prosecutors offices, businesses, faith communities, fundraising organizations, and various community events while advocating for the fundamental right to a Safe Home. 

Taking Action for Safety: Our partnerships extend to first responders and crime prevention initiatives. We honored those taken at our Fourth Annual Community Tribute to Domestic Violence Awareness Month and celebrated the unwavering efforts of community leaders dedicated to preventing domestic violence.

What Lies Ahead:

Accessibility Commitment: We translate our print materials into Spanish and Somali, ensuring broader outreach. These materials will be available to our network by the end of 2023.

Men Speak Up: "Rocky Speaks" showcases men and their loyal canine companions who advocate the cause of preventing domestic abuse.

Safe City Initiatives: Collaboration with Cities bringing awareness to the whole of communities to create designated "Safe Cities".

The gravity of this crisis has deeply moved us, and the escalating statistics suggest that domestic violence may touch those near and dear to you. One in three women and one in 4 for men!
