The Lyric Center for the Arts (LACA) is working to foster the creative community on Minnesota's Iron Range. Located 200 miles north of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, we own the most complete vaudeville era theater in rural Minnesota. Although the main stage is currently mothballed, since our beginning in 1998 we have continued to produce and present arts programs of all media.
Moving forward we will be adding enrichment and business development opportunities for our local arts community. Along with providing artistic opportunities, LACA's mission includes renovation of the historic Lyric Center for the Arts in downtown Virginia, MN. Built in 1912 as a live opera house, the Lyric Center, when completely renovated, will house a 500 seat theater, ballroom, lounge, gallery, recital hall and multi-use spaces dedicated to the arts and artists of our region. Donations to our capital campaign will help defray the costs of renovations.
After a successful reconstruction project of our main street storefront, our next interior renovation project is to develop a 120 seat performance space within the gallery. Your donation can help contribute to this much needed space at the Lyric which will provide a greater performance stage that will bring in larger acts and more tickets will be sold to help build towards the next big project, renovating the historic theatre!
A small portion of the Lyric Center has been renovated into The Lyric Center Gallery and small performance space. Located at 510 Chestnut Street, gallery hours are Thursdays 11-6, Friday and Saturdays from 11 AM to 3 PM. Drop by for an awesome local art experience!
