Your financial support will help to educate the children of our community. More than 25,000 Clark County school children visit the Museum annually and are taken on a “learning safari” where they may encounter animals from all over the world, the treasures of ancient Egypt, prehistoric lands, African ecosystems, marine life, and Nevada’s wildlife. Approximately 18,000 of the children who visit each year are from at-risk schools and are admitted free of charge with the help of community support.
The Las Vegas Natural History Museum is the only museum in Southern Nevada with collections extensive enough to interpret wildlife and environments beyond the local region. By offering informational encounters unavailable elsewhere in the community, the Museum plays an important educational role for children and their families.
To enrich family visits, the Museum offers weekend educational programs. For years, these interactive opportunities have showcased educational applications of basic scientific principles through hands-on experiments, "make-and-take" projects, and the use of scientific equipment. Families have made mini volcanoes, witnessed shark dissections, and excavated a dinosaur at a mock site. A popular program is Critter Connections, where visitors interact with and learn more about live animals. Many of the animals highlighted in the programs are residents of the Museum.
