Lets Shift the Mindsets of Our Twin Cities Youth Together

Lovely's Sewing & Arts Collective (LSAC)  is a Twin Cities based organization that focuses on life skills for youth. Our program is based around teaching young children the art of sewing which is the foundation of LSAC. We also teach yoga, painting, financial literacy, and money management. 

If you can recall years ago sewing was a life skill, taught in public schools. Along with cosmetology, architecture, wood shop, auto shop and home economics. 

 Overtime, these skills have been pushed to the back burner and added to the college curriculum. We believe that teaching children some of the basics will help prepare them for a more independent future. As well as discipline, patience, focus and leadership. 

Just last year, twenty-five children were able to open savings accounts and many of them now mend their own clothes. 

For example a mother, who has a child in our program, owned a tattered blanket she felt she had no use for, and the child attending the program persuaded the mother to save the blanket so it could be mended by her. Helping to bring an end to the small things we see as easily disposable, and how those items still hold value. 

We also expose our children to new cultures by visiting places such as Blue Rhino, The Minikahda Golf Club, and The American Swedish Institute. Helping to inspire the youth to find a passion they enjoy.

We are in constant need of transportation, art/sewing materials and healthy meals just to name a few.
