Lindsey O’Brien Kesling lived larger in her 22 years of life than most people live twice her age. She died in November 2010 due to accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.
Lindsey’s family and friends transformed their grief into something new and beautiful: The Lindsey O’Brien Kesling (LOK) Wishing Tree Foundation. The LOK Foundation is dedicated to honoring the fullness of Lindsey’s short life by supporting her passions: helping children achieve their dreams, mentoring those less privileged, supporting their potential in the performing arts and by being a friend.
We partner with organizations such as The Bloomington Boys & Girls Club (where Lindsey was big sister), the South Shore Dance Alliance (Griffith, Indiana) and Lubeznik Center for the Arts (Michigan City, Indiana) to offer diverse, high quality creative and performing arts programming for underserved youth.
In our short history we have won recognition for our partner programs, such as the 2013 Merit Award for Program Excellence in the Arts from Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) for the The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bloomington Lindsey O’Brien Kesling Performing Arts Program (LOKPAP).
We have also garnered attention from legislators and the public alike for our efforts to increase awareness about carbon monoxide safety. Along with our commitment to helping young people achieve their dreams, we also want to keep them (and their families) safe from preventable, accidental death to carbon monoxide.
