LiveMore ScreenLess was founded in 2019 by Maree Hampton and KK Myers as they realized a quiet crisis was brewing among young people - the very group they have spent their careers supporting. When KK witnessed the daily struggles facing her students from constant use of digital devices and with national and statewide student data reporting alarming increases in anxiety, depression and suicide ideation, Maree and KK realized this profound societal challenge needed leadership.

LiveMore ScreenLess recognizes and appreciates the vast benefits that technology brings to our lives. However, evidence is mounting that misuse and overuse of technology is harmful to the health and wellbeing of young people. While research on the effects of screens is emerging, evidence clearly points to a correlation between screen misuse and overuse and rising trends of anxiety and depression among young people, as well as deleterious effects on physical health, on focus and concentration, and on learning. Even with more equal distribution of devices among all populations, the digital divide continues to grow. LiveMore is addressing this crisis by listening to and learning from young people. Youth voice is the foundation of LiveMore.

Please consider joining us on our mission!

  • If you feel overwhelmed by the technology industry’s powerful design and sophisticated algorithms and you are especially worried about its grasp on young people  -  join us!
  • If you feel an urgency to help young people capture some of the joys of childhood you remember - exploring the outdoors, reading books, playing with friends, and being curious (maybe even bored!) - join us!
  • If the documentary “The Social Dilemma” left you horrified, sickened and puzzled to know how to support young people  -  join us!
  • If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference - join us!

As we listen to parents, family members, teachers, school administrators and staff, mental health counselors, public health professionals, legislators and business leaders, we hear their deep concern about the impact of technology use on the wellbeing of young people. It is CRITICAL that we face the challenges that screen misuse and overuse has on the health and wellbeing of young people, especially now as the pandemic has forced many students to learn on screens from home.

LiveMore has built a solid foundation and we are scaling up our efforts to fulfill our mission: to advocate and promote digital wellbeing for and with young people through a collaborative and comprehensive community approach. Our campaign seeks to raise critical funds so that LiveMore can fulfill its mission.
