These animals have overcome incredible odds to find their forever home here at the LS Zoo. Without intervention, their futures were uncertain. Thanks to donors like you, we’re able to provide a forever home for this unique pack of coyotes!

🐺 A Rescue Story Full of Heart

In April, we received a call from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game about orphaned coyote pups with an incredible story. In the remote Alaskan wilderness, a hunter discovered the pups after their mother tragically passed. Without immediate intervention, their future was bleak.

The Lake Superior Zoo team knew we had to act. Without a facility like ours, orphaned wildlife often face euthanasia. We had the perfect space in mind for their new home, and we knew it was up to us give these pups a fighting chance!

🐺 All About Millie

Millie, a gentle five-year-old coyote, joined our zoo family right before the Katmai and Kobuk arrived. She was originally housed at another facility but faced challenges after her siblings displaced her within their pack. Coyotes are highly social animals, and introducing a lone coyote to an established pack can be difficult and dangerous. That’s when we had the idea to give Millie a fresh start. With her kind and quiet nature, Millie became the perfect match for our rescued coyote pups, forming a one-of-a-kind “misfit” pack. Now thriving in her new home, Millie has found her place, helping us tell the story pf the importance of wildlife rescue, care, and second chances.
