Lake City Historical Society

In 2023 we improved access to our archives and collection, both online and in person. We sought and utilized grant funds to bring professional support to our organization. In 2024 we will take the lead in restoring The Wave, the iconic sculpture that celebrates the spirit of the lake and water sports, and see that it gets returned to our waterfront.

Your contribution increases our capacity and assures that we can continue to tell the story of Lake City, Minnesota. We are in Dakota homeland, and within the historic Sioux Half-Breed Reserve at Lake Pepin. Lake City is the birthplace of water skiing.

The Lake City Historical Society is an all-volunteer 501.c.3 non-profit organization. The mission of the Lake City Historical Society is the collection, preservation, display and dissemination of knowledge about the history of Lake City, Minnesota and its related areas.
