Korean Institute of Minnesota is a unique and valued organization to preserve Korean culture and language for future generations since 1975.
The Korean Institute of Minnesota (KIM) has been a Center of Korean Culutre and Language in Minnesota since 1975. It is one of the oldest Korean educational organizations in U.S.
The origins of KIM came from the needs of Korean American immigrants. In the early 1970's an influx of Korean immigrants settled in Minnesota. Many came for educational and professional development. The overall population of Asian communities was small at this time, and the Korean community established KIM to preserve Korean culture and language for future generations.
The Korean Institute of Minnesota is a unique and valued organization. The symbiotic relationship between the Korean adopted community and the Korean American community has been nurtured and sustained. The common bond for these two communities is their investment in their youth and wish for Korean cultural heritage to be passed on and shared.
It is also a place for adoptive families to expand their relationships with one another. Korean Institute of Minnesota recently partnered with GiveMN.org, a new online giving marketplace that connects potential donors with Minnesota nonprofits.
