Our Story

Founded in 2024 by three family members—Yeng Moua, Xianna MouaYang, and Mai Moua—Koom Recovery emerged from our personal experiences with substance use disorder. Our journey through substance use and recovery has been shaped by challenges within the Hmong community, including stigma, shame, and limited accessible resources. Our mission is to provide the support and resources we lacked, helping others navigate their paths to recovery. As individuals deeply affected by substance use disorder, we understand the isolation and despair it brings. Growing up in the Hmong community, we faced significant cultural pressures and life-altering events that led to decisions resulting in hardship, guilt, shame, and even incarceration. While our experiences aren't unique to any one ethnicity, we often remained unaware of available resources.

Our Mission

Empowering the Hmong community to overcome substance use disorders by promoting culturally informed education, breaking cultural stigma, and supporting all pathways to recovery.

Our Vision

Breaking the silence of substance use disorder in the Hmong community.
