James F Brobin was a coach and an educator at Mounds View High School who influenced teens from the mid 1950's to the early 1990's. Not only were his teams successful, hundreds of athletic accolades fill the walls, but he was an inspirational educator first a foremost. To those men and women he coached, Coach Brobin is most fondly remembered for is his caring and compassion for those less fortunate. He known to find those students who were one Friday night away from life-changing consequences and provide them with a home on his teams.
A group of his former athletes started a foundation in his legacy after Coach Brobin lost his battle to ALS in 2017. We intend to endow a scholarship at his alma mater, St Cloud State University, to assist future educators achieve their career goals. Somewhere, there is a college student, stressed to the limit because they cannot balance the workload in the classroom with their real-life workload to pay for their degree. They are about to give up. Our foundation will reach out and help them to the finish line, much like Coach Brobin did. Who will be better suited to identify and assist others facing life challenges in the classroom than someone who has been there?
Please help us carry on Coach Brobin's legacy in two ways. First, please donate to our cause. Second, find a way sometime this week to reach out and make a difference with someone who is struggling. Your words and actions may make all the difference in the world.
