STUDENT HEALTH & WELLNESS: Wellness Centers at Hopkins High School, North Junior High and West Junior High offer easily-accessible FREE after school counseling to increase student health, reduce stressors, and reinforce coping skills. A variety of fun, engaging, student-suggested programming and a welcoming ambiance has been added to draw students to the Center for proactive, preventive self-care. Programming is being offered both in-person and online.
PILOTS that the district was not immediately ready for on a broad scale but that built 21st Century skills - and are now part of the Hopkins experience - such as accessible outdoor classrooms & gardens - extremely appreciated and heavily used right now - a coding curriculum, one-to-one laptops, flexible learning classrooms, and an Academic Support Center.
AWESOME FUND: grants available to student clubs to 'do cool stuff' that engage fellow students and increase the sense of community, belonging, and interest in school. The Video Game Club recently received a timely grant and is enjoying the social interaction of connecting with each other online.
PRE-K and TRANSITIONS PLUS: awarding grants to enhance programs for ALL Hopkins Public Schools students, including the very young and those learning important life skills needed for self-sufficiency beyond high school. Take-Home Kits for Pre-K families and Sensory Kits for Early Childhood Special Ed students are just two recent COVID Related grants.
